The Eagle and Child, aka Chilling with the Inklings

During term, my friend Rachel and I decided to visit The Eagle and Child, where the Inklings used to hang out. You may ask, "Who are the Inklings?" Well, the Inklings were a group of authors- some of the more notably known are C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. Being Oxford scholars, the two of us decided we needed to take a Tuesday lunch as a pub day. When we arrived, the place was practically empty, so we got to choose whatever seat we wanted.

I got the nice little corner seat.

Our British meal of Fish and Chips and Bangers and Mash.

Afterwards, we walked through a little churchyard, as the flowers were blooming and it was beautiful.

The final stop of our day was a house where J.R.R. Tolkien lived. You can't go inside, as people live there, but we got to see the outside!

It was a fun day, and a chance to explore some of the literary greatness of Oxford!
